Why Kim Davis is a moron

We've tried to avoid this topic like a plague, but the more we hear the things she says the more and more we are convinced that she is a moron and well quite frankly we couldn't let this one go without saying a thing or two. Here's a list of reasons why we believe that Kim Davis is a complete and utter moron.

Kim Davis doesn't understand the Constitution.

The U.S. Government said it was unconstitutional to ban gay marriage in all fifty-states. The government cannot and should not promote an ideology of any sort and thus gay marriage is perfectly legal. Kim Davis however, says that she can't grant a marriage license to same-sex couples because it goes against God's Law. Again! The U.S. Constitution is the law of the land not God's Law because God's Law has no place in government only in churches.

What Kim Davis fails to realize is that she is getting paid to do a job and her job is to grant marriage licenses and comply with new laws. You have to grant marriage licenses even if the two men or two women wanting to get married offends your religious views. You check your religion at the door just like everyone else getting paid to do a job!!

Kim Davis and all her supporters scream 'religious freedom' whenever they are being forced to do something they don't like such as grant a marriage license to a gay couple. Well when you wake up and join the rest of society Kim you'll see that there is a big difference between having religious freedom and pushing you religion down the throats of those who don't believe it. Yes religious oppression is not the same as religious freedom! Please brush up on the Constitution and try again.

Kim Davis is a hypocrite

Kim you've been married four times and you've committed adultery which is pretty much a huge thing in the bible. However, you said you were washed of all your sins by god and that none of it really matters anymore? Well what's stopping a gay couple from saying the same thing? They've spoken to god and he washed them of their sins and are well still going to get married and spend their lives together.

Deuteronomy 22:19 and they shall fine him a hundred shekels of silver and give them to the father of the young woman, because he has brought a bad name upon a virgin of Israel. And she shall be his wife. He may not divorce her all his days.
Deuteronomy 22:29 then the man who lay with her shall give to the father of the young woman fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife, because he has violated her. He may not divorce her all his days.
Jeremiah 3:1 “If a man divorces his wife and she goes from him and becomes another man’s wife, will he return to her?
Malachi 2:16 “For the man who does not love his wife but divorces her, says the LORD, the God of Israel, covers his garment with violence, says the LORD of hosts. So guard yourselves in your spirit, and do not be faithless.”
Matthew 1:19 And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly.
Mark 10:2 And Pharisees came up and in order to test him asked, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?”
1Corinthians 7:11 (but if she does, she should remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband), and the husband should not divorce his wife.

Oh yeah don't forget adultery.

Proverbs 6:32
He who commits adultery lacks sense; he who does it destroys himself.

Matthew 5:28

But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

Hebrews 13:4

Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.

Matthew 19:9

And I say to you: whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery.”

Proverbs 6:24-29

To preserve you from the evil woman, from the smooth tongue of the adulteress. Do not desire her beauty in your heart, and do not let her capture you with her eyelashes; for the price of a prostitute is only a loaf of bread, but a married woman hunts down a precious life. Can a man carry fire next to his chest and his clothes not be burned? Or can one walk on hot coals and his feet not be scorched? ...

1 Corinthians 6:18

Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.

Exodus 20:14

“You shall not commit adultery.

1 Corinthians 10:13

No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

One thing that most fail to realize is that when you throw god into your argument you aren't presenting a valid argument. You just want the government to pander to your religion and oppress others. Every since the government said no we aren't going to pander to your religion and we can no longer deny marriage licenses to same-sex couples; those who are against gay marriage are butt hurt and want to continue trying to oppress and deny the rights of those who have little to no impact on their lives.

Kim no one stood in the way of you when you were married four times and no one stood in your way. Denying marriage licenses to same-sex couples proves how much of a hypocrite you are! Yes you are a hypocrite because allowing someone multiple marriages doesn't violate God's Law at all right? It's all about trying to take the rights away from same-sex couples and wanting the government to pander to your religion. Sorry Kim but you've lost. Do your job or resign! It's just that simple.

Kim Davis fails to realize that the bible is against judging.

Matthew 7:1-5
“Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.

Luke 6:37

“Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven;

John 7:24

Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.”

James 4:11-12

Do not speak evil against one another, brothers. The one who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks evil against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge. There is only one lawgiver and judge, he who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge your neighbor?

Kim Davis lacks logic

Example: you walk into a restaurant and you are expecting to be served whatever dish you order from the menu. The waiter/waitress brings your food as you ordered it and you pay for your food then leave. However, if you apply Kim Davis logic to this scenario the waiter/waitress could deny serving certain foods because it goes against their religion. Do you see the logic here? You are saying you can't grant same-sex couples a marriage license because it goes against their religion. It's like saying I can't serve you alcohol because it's a sin to touch it. I can't serve you pork because it goes against my religious views. Your religious views should have no impact on your job unless your job so happens to be at a church.

Kia tries to sell its Soul to Pathological Hate

The Kia Soul is one of those cars that tries to something for everyone. It has a commanding driving position that makes you feel like you are in a crossover and it's small and dinky enough to squeeze around tight urban parking spaces. It really is a jack of all trades but what has it mastered?

The 1.6 in the entry-level Base trim comes standard with a six-speed manual gearbox with a six-speed automatic as an option. We wouldn't bother with the Base trim if you want an auto gearbox; instead we'd opt for the Plus trim which adds an automatic standard and comes with a smoother 2-liter engine.

The Soul won't turn through corners and bends as well as a Focus or Golf but you'll forgive it when you see how comfortable it is to drive around town and on the highway. Both engines provide decent turn of pace but the 2-liter feels more relaxed at highway speeds. Steering feedback is good and the ride comfort is also good too. Plus and Exclamation trim both suffer from a firmer ride due to the larger alloys that are fitted as standard. Wind and road noise are both at respectable levels.

The driver's seat offers plenty of comfort and offers an array of adjustments for drivers of all sizes to get comfortable. There is plenty of headroom and legroom for both the front rear passengers. The infotainment system we had out tester car (Plus trim) was easy to navigate through and everything was within easy reach of the driver's hand. Boot space is decent too and with the rear seat folded down its more than generous.

Base trim gets decent kit for the money but the automatic gearbox is what makes the this trim rather pointless because you can easily step up to the Plus for similar cash. Air-con, Cd-player, bluetooth and keyless entry all come standard on all trims. You'll have to step up to the Plus and Exclamation to get larger alloys and the top of the range gets the LED headlights and larger infotaimnet display.

Kia is known for having rock hard reliability and the same can be said about the Soul. The interior feels well put together and all the controls and dials feel long lasting. Kia was once considered the budget brand for those who couldn't afford the more popular options, that's all changing because the Soul is a desirable alternative to even the best such as the Golf or Ford Focus.

Overall: It's hard to fault the Kia Soul. It's good but not great.

Likes: Easy to drive and live with. Driving position is similar to that of a crossover. Decent kit standard.

Dislikes: It's not as engaging to drive as some rivals, and it may depreciate faster too.

Devon's Choice: Skip the entry Base unless you want the manual gearbox. Everyone else who wants an automatic will have to pay a hefty premium which pushes the price closer to the Plus trim (which is our pick of the range). The top of the range is a bit expensive, which leaves you with the most sensible trim the Plus. It offers decent kit and comes with the smoother 2-liter engine standard.

Devon test drives Volkwagen's Golf Wagon

Compact crossovers maybe all the rage right now but not everyone finds them appealing; and for those few individuals the Golf wagon is the perfect alternate. Here’s why:

The standard 1.8 turbo is the best combo for low running costs and flexibility in performance; plus it is priced within reason too. The 2-liter TDI is also priced within reason too but finding one will be a chore because this is the most popular form of Golf wagon. Both engines can be had with a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed DSG auto gearbox.

Whatever wagon stigma you may have in your mind should be immediately thrown to the birds when you look at the Golf Wagon. The steering feedback is good and the ride comfort is excellent; all while offering decent handling and good body control. Most will think that since it is a wagon it will be noisier than a sedan but you’ll be wrong again here because wind and road noise are both kept to a hush and you won’t even hear a peep out of the suspension.

Volkswagen does know a thing or two about infotainment display and user-friendly functionality. Both are well regarded in the Golf Wagon. Front driver and front passengers will be greeted with the most comfortable seats and even the second row passengers won’t complain much about legroom and headroom. The boot space is what makes a wagon a wagon and yes it is generous even with the second row seat folded down. Roof rails are standard as well to add versatility.

S trim comes with 16-inch alloy wheels, V-TEX leatherette seating surfaces, air-con, cd-player and Bluetooth for your mobile phone. SE trim adds panoramic sunroof, keyless start and a rearview camera. Top of the range SEL trim comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, navigation system and power-folding exterior mirrors.

The Golf Wagon is the best choice for anyone refusing to follow the trend of the compact crossover segment. However, the Golf wagon doesn’t offer all-wheel-drive and for those who may want that option will have to venture elsewhere. Everyone else will be happy with the Golf because even the SE trim offers decent value for the money in both the 1.8 turbo and TDI. Discounts should be available and resale value should be strong especially with the TDI.

Volkswagen hasn’t been the best in terms or reliability but we have very little doubt the Golf Wagon reliability will be top notch. Interior materials have been gradually improved over the previous generation and the safety kit is comprehensive; electronic stability control, traction control, anti-lock brakes and electronic brake force distribution all come standard.

Don’t want to follow the trend of compact crossovers and don’t mind the lack of all-wheel-drive. The Golf Wagon hands down is the best choice money can buy. You seriously will not be disappointed here.

Likes: Space for passengers and cargo are both generous. Standard kit is decent too and both engines manage good flexibility and low running costs well.

Dislikes: No all-wheel-drive option; the GTI’s engine would be a nice addition too.

Devon's Pick: SE trim manages to combine decent kit at a decent price in both 1.8T and TDI.

Devon test drives Mercedes C-class Sedan

The newest C-class sedan may leave the BMW 3-series shaking in its boots; because the new C-class really is a sedan worthy of being a real alternate to the 3-series sedan.

C300 comes with our favorite engine choice. It’s a 2-liter turbocharged four-cylinder pumping out 241hp and is the most sensible choice for those who want their C-class to have a price tag within reason. C400 4matic trim gets an even more oomph thanks to a 3-liter bi-turbocharged six-cylinder with 329hp. AMG fans can rejoice because there is not only one but two engines you can choose from; and unlike the M3 sedan both are turbocharged eight-cylinder engines. C63 form uses a 4-liter bi-turbocharged eight-cylinder producing 469hp and the C63 S using the same engine pumps up the output to 503hp.

The C-class just doesn’t feel as composed as a 3-series and it isn’t as sharp to drive either. Our tester car came equipped with the air-suspension system which made the ride feel more comfortable and composed in bends and sharp corners. The best of the bunch goes to the AMG forms which seem to be outrageously fast and contagious to push hard the engine note is simply amazing and the steering inputs are communicative. Wind and road noise won’t be much of an issue unless you option for the glass roof and the wind noise won’t be completely shut out and that’s just doesn’t fit the Mercedes caliber of refinement.

Slip behind the driver’s seat and you’ll be greeted with plenty of adjustments and comfort. Headroom and legroom is good while those in the back may suffer a bit in the legroom department. Boot space is decent too for a sedan. Visibility is decent too and the overall infotainment system is pretty much well laid. The infotainment system is best used with the rotary knob located in the center console, it makes things a lot easier to use while on the move but some of the menus are distracting. We still don’t like the single stalk used to control the wiper blades and turn signal.

C300 comes standard with auto headlights, rain-sensing windshield wipers, Bluetooth, LED brake lights and leatherette seating surfaces. C300 trim can be had with a luxury package which adds special alloy wheels, topstitched MB-Tex upper dash trim and a comfort suspension. Sport package adds 18-inch alloys, sport tuned suspension and brushed aluminum pedals. C400 trim comes standard with 4matic all-wheel-drive 18inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and tail lamps with AMG body-kit agility control for the suspension. Both AMG forms add the aggressive AMG styling with AMG crafted interior and performance tuned suspension, steering and an excellent turbocharged eight-cylinder engine.

The C300 and C400 are the only two trims that really do make the most sense. Both are decently priced and offer decent kit for the money, but for those who just have to have an AMG the C63 form is decent but expensive and you’ll get nowhere near the estimated 18city/25hwy even if you are the most careful driver in the world. The C63 S adds more power and bumps up the price tag north of $70k and let’s just face the truth anyone buying an AMG concerned about running costs shouldn’t even consider an AMG at all. Resale value should be good too.

The C-class sedan at times feels like all style and little substance, even if the 3-series isn't as stylish. The 3-series is still more fun to drive and offers the better infotainmet system. It's hard to fault the C-class too because it really is a great overall package but the price tag is steep and well the most fun to drive forms are the ones that you'll pay an arm and a leg to run.

Likes: Stunning looks inside and out. AMG versions are the best forms, but the C300 and C400 are the most sensible.

Dislikes: Not as sharp to drive as a 3-series and it isn't cheap to buy either. Halogen headlamps on standard C300 is just disappointing at this price point.

Pathological hate Blog 1

I was only ten years old and I was living in a funeral home with my grandparents. Growing up wasn’t all that normal because most of the time my granddad would be prepping the bodies of the deceased for viewing and my grandma would help the grieving families make the funeral arrangements. There was four of us, three boys and one girl and we loved to play hide and seek. My granddad would get mad if we played in the funeral home and would always yell at us to go away; go outside and play he would always say. My grandma didn’t like us playing outside especially when they would have grieving families walking into the funeral home; she really didn’t want us to see what was going on. I would never forget the day that changed my whole life about death and what could possibly be the afterlife. It was a stormy day and we couldn’t go outside to play and we couldn’t play video games because there was a power outage due to the storm. My grandma and granddad were quite worried about the prep room and focused much of their attention in the basement. My cousins and I were very bored and we really wanted to just run and play like normal kids. So we devised a plan to play hide and seek and we would risk getting in trouble. So we ran into the funeral home and began to play our innocent game.

The first time I was caught quickly because I didn’t hide all that well. I had to count to fifty and find my cousins who were hiding in the dark funeral home. I began to walk slowly and the more I began to walk the more and more scared I became. The lighting flashing behind me would light the path in front of me for a split second and made everything in the hallway look spooky. I kept walking because I knew if I found my cousins the game would be over and we could just play something else. I turned the corner of the hallway into a pitch black hallway the only thing lit was the exit sign but then the light kept flickering on and off like someone was playing with the switch. I could hear nothing and I could see barely two inches a head of me. It was the most scared I had ever been in my young life. My heart began to beat fast and I could feel my hands shake uncontrollably.

The rooms that I walked past all were empty except one room which the light was on in and it was the only room with light in it. I slowly walked to the room because I thought maybe my cousins had hid in this room. Maybe if I found them we could stop playing this game and just go back to the house and pretend we never played in the funeral home and disobeyed the orders not to play in here. I started to smile and slowly tiptoe towards the room. I stopped by the door and tried to see if I could hear anyone in the room. I slowly peeped into the room and saw nothing the first time but I was so scared because something ominous struck me, something wasn’t right with this room and I didn’t want to walk in; but I had to end this game it was the worst idea we had ever came up with. I took a deep breath and turned into the room. What I seen next was something out of a horror movie it was the worst thing I ever seen. The body that was in the casket rose up and it sat there. I stood there in horror because I didn’t understand where the lights were coming from.

All I could see was the body just sitting upright in the casket and it wasn’t moving it just sat there and a strange cloaked figure appeared from behind the casket and it had a box in its hand. The box was shining very brightly and was probably the light source for the whole room. It pointed at me and I screamed very loud and uncontrollably. I ran out of the room as fast as I could and I didn’t turn around. I looked back the moment I got half way through the hallway and see the light in the room start to slowly flicker off and the whole funeral home lit back up again. My cousins who were hiding in the office came out to see what was wrong. I tried to tell them what I saw and they both laughed at me. My grandparents eventually discovered where we were and they were not very happy that we disobeyed them. I tried to tell them what I saw but they said that when you’re scared your mind plays tricks on you and it will make something appear that isn’t really there. I know what I saw and that figure had a box it was a bright light that wasn’t like anything I had ever seen. The cloaked figure looked and felt like pure evil the energy spewing from it would make anyone cringe with fear.

I couldn’t sleep at all the night and all I could think about was why was that cloaked figure in the room with that body and why was it holding that box?

Next morning I woke up and decided to sneak down into the funeral home again because I knew that the family would be there for the deceased person and I sat there looking in. The eulogy was pretty typical with people talking about the good times and how he was such a good person; as I stood there an old lady stood next to me smiled. I had never seen this woman before and she looked at me with the most unusual smile I had ever seen. “Some people go to heaven and some people go to hell; in his case my child this man is not going to heaven.” I looked up at her and asked her and wanted to ask why wasn’t he going to heaven? But before I could ask her anything she walked away and turned into the same room where I saw the man and the cloaked figure.

I ran into the room to see no one was in the room and no one was there but another body in a casket. I slowly walked into the room and noticed it was the same person in which I was speaking too. Chills went up and down my spine and I ran back to the house and hid under my covers. Till this day I could never figure out what I saw and it’s strange because most people just say that I was seeing things and my mind was playing tricks on me.

Pathological hate responds to anti-gay marriage article

Bigot: a person who is intolerant toward those holding different opinions.

Homophobia: dislike of or prejudice against homosexual people.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances

Hate speech is speech that offends, threatens, or insults groups, based on race, color, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, disability, or other traits.

“If we want to defend the centuries-old understanding of marriage, we should start by looking carefully at what God has to say about it. When we speak of the "sanctity of marriage," we mean to say that marriage is a holy and sacred institution created not by man, but by God. That means that no matter what legislators or justices say, the definition of marriage is not ours to tamper with.”

God didn’t create marriage we did. Marriage was once seen as a social contract between two people to keep a bloodline going; keep an inheritance within a family and to keep a last name going. Most importantly it was seen as a union of two people who loved each other and wanted to spend their lives together. “No matter what legislators or justices say the definition of marriage is not ours to tamper with?” We created marriage not god! Secondly I’m glad the government has finally stepped in and said it is unconstitutional to ban gay marriage and it is also unconstitutional to use your religion to deny that right to the LGBT community. It’s fine that you don’t agree with someone being gay but it’s not okay to openly hate and use your religion as a justification to spew your hatred.

Marriage can and should be redefined because it was once illegal for interracial couples to get married and now that gay marriage is deemed unconstitutional to ban, we are redefining it again. Sorry to tell you that the world you once knew is changing and this is a great accomplishment allowing gay couples the right to get married. This should’ve been granted a long time ago!

“First, we in the Christian community need to apologize for the way we have interacted with the LGBT community. As those who have been forgiven by God through Christ's sacrificial death on our behalf, we must exhibit the love of Christ to all men and women. We can stand for the truth and be loving at the same time. This we must do.

Second, our authority to speak to the needs of our nation today is the Word of God. The Scriptures teach that there are absolutes and that there is such a thing as right and wrong. Truth is never tolerant of a lie. The real battleground around this debate on homosexual marriage begins with the question: Who is your authority? We believe that the timeless truth of Holy Scripture gives us the authoritative blueprints for life. We respect those who wish to deny the truth of Scripture. We would ask for a mutual respect in return.”

Yes you are correct it is your job to go out and spread the word of god; but what you fail to realize is that our government shouldn’t be promoting an ideology of any shape or form. I would be offended if the government made radical claims suggesting that there is no god. The only job the government has regarding religion is protection of and protection from religion. No, you shouldn’t proselytize to those who don’t want to hear it, yes you have the right to worship whatever god you choose as long as it doesn’t infringe upon the rights of others then it becomes a problem.

How can you ask for mutual respect in return when you are basically telling gay people that they can’t get married because of god! It angers me that you can sit here and say it’s okay for you to dictate someone else’s life because your bible tells you it’s okay. Well it’s not okay! Freedom of and freedom from religion remember that!

“ It's important to emphasize two things here. First, marriage is not about us; it's about God. From the beginning our purpose—as individuals and as couples in marriage—is to glorify God. We were created with the capacity to enjoy a relationship with God and to love and serve Him. As Jesus says in Matthew 22:37, the greatest commandment is, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind."

It’s important to emphasize something here, marriage was not created by god and if you want your marriage to be about god that is fine. However, we live in a society where people get married because they love each other and want to spend their lives together. I don’t understand why we keep having this same discussion over and over again? Not everyone believes in your god and to throw bible verses at them saying this is why gay people can’t get married is plain stupid. You have your religious views? Cool great; but do us all a favor and keep them to your fucking self.

“Second, God ties His image to human sexuality. Marking human beings as distinct from the rest of creation, Genesis 1 says "In the image of God He created him—male and female He created them." In other words, our gender differences as men and women are part of how we understand who God is.”

Let’s look at the creation of man. Adam was created from dirt and Eve was created from the rib of Adam. We don’t see people just popping into existence from bones and dirt; also let’s just tell the truth because the bible does a good job at it. Adam was created to be a robot and Eve was just a baby factory who has no voice and no rights. Created in the image of god? We don’t even know if god does or doesn’t exist and there is no empirical data to suggest otherwise. Please use your brain!

“Homosexuals have suggested for years that their practice is an acceptable alternative lifestyle. Many claim that their sexual attraction is something they were born with. Some have even suggested that God made them as homosexuals. While the impact of nature vs. nurture can be debated, God makes it clear in Scripture that acting on homosexual attraction is sin.”

“The practice of homosexuality isn't a preference or an uncontrollable desire—it's actually a stark confirmation of a person's rebellion against the Designer. Romans 1:21-27 tells us that, as humans failed to honor God, their "foolish heart was darkened" and "they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator ... For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error."

“The issue of sexual behavior isn't a matter of simple preference. Our sexual choices and behavior reflect on the image and glory of God. Our stand against homosexuality is ultimately a stand for the wisdom and perfection of the created design and a choice to honor the Designer.”

People who are gay are gay because they are rebelling against god? What kind of drugs are you on to even come to a conclusion like this? Science has proven that being gay is not a choice and shouldn’t be treated like that. In fact being gay was once considered a mental illness because people used their bible as a weapon to openly discriminate and justify their ignorance. Sexual orientation is not a preference; no one wakes up and says oh I used to be gay but now I’m not. I’m going to date women and be heterosexual. No! No! No! That is not how the world works! Again what if I don’t believe in your god? All you’ve said here is say that the LGBT lifestyle is invalid and they hate god. Nice job on the straw man and insult of a whole community of people who by the way don’t hate your god. They just hate the concept of him and how he is used to discriminate against people.

A second purpose for marriage is to produce children.  In Genesis 1:28 when God commands Adam and Eve, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth..." The most obvious aspect of this command is that God designed male and female to join physically and reproduce children. Procreation is an integral part of God's design for marriage.

In addition, God set up the family as one of his primary institutions (the other being the Church) to tell each succeeding generation about who He is and how they can know Him. God's original plan called for the home to be a sort of greenhouse—a nurture center where children grow up to learn character, values, and integrity. Psalm 78 instructs parents to teach their children to "...put their confidence in God and not forget the works of God, but keep His commandments..."

This training in obedience is not only an essential responsibility of the family, but it also is designed to be an outgrowth of the marriage. Research studies make it clear that a stable family with both father and mother provides the best environment for children to thrive, mature, and become responsible citizens of any nation and culture.

Male-male or female-female relationships cannot produce children unless something extraordinary is done to assist them. While it is true that gay couples can raise children, and can adopt needy children, they will not, however, multiply a godly legacy when they are living in rebellion to God. In addition, gay couples cannot model what God designed for a child to experience growing up: a complete picture of a male and female completing one another in the marriage relationship. Children were made by God to be nurtured by the love of a mother and a father from birth.

Marriage is about sharing your life with the person you love and if you so happen to want children then that’s fine. However, the only purpose of marriage is not to have children because you are basically shaming every sterile couple who cannot physically have children and this time I won’t bring up an elderly couple. What if a couple doesn’t want children? Are you going to shame them too? Why is marriage about glorifying god and producing children? But not once did you ever mention these people actually want to glorify him or if they actually even believe in him.

There are families with no mom present and vice versa. Some kinds don’t even have both parents at all in their life and they are raised by a grandparent or a sibling. It really is cruel to say that they don’t have a family because it doesn’t fit your biblical standards of what a family should be. Science has proven that a kid can be raised by two people of the same-sex and grow up just like kids who have parents of the opposite sex. Training to glorify god? Please don’t indoctrinate kids into religion until they are fully aware and able to make their own decisions regarding religion. Kids aren’t born hating they learn to hate from their parents. I just hope if you have kids that they don’t take this type of view on marriage; especially a marriage not harming other people.

AGAIN!!! What if the couple is sterile and incapable of having a child on their own? What if the couple doesn’t want a CHILD! Marriage isn’t about having CHIDLREN!!!! Also just because two people of the same-sex can’t physically have a child doesn’t give you the green light to DENY THEM MARRIAGE!  Please get it through your thick skull.

“These passages in Genesis 1 and 2 also make it clear that God not only created the institution of marriage, but He also is intimately involved in bringing a husband and wife together physically through the act of intercourse in marriage. He gave Adam a helper specifically designed for him. God designed a man and a woman to complete one another and He commanded them to become "one flesh." As Jesus said, just after quoting from Genesis 1:27, "So they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate" (Matthew 19:6).”

“Male and female were created to be complementary to one another in every way—from their emotional and spiritual needs to their anatomical structure. While same-sex couples may attempt to experience some aspects of this "completion," they nevertheless are maintaining a lifestyle built around a sexual rebellion against God. In most cases, this will lead to an inability to make the type of commitment God desires in marriage. Studies show, for example, that even when homosexual men commit themselves to a partner, many still regularly engage in sex with other men several times a year.”

“The physical act of a husband and wife becoming one within marriage is easily understood. They were designed by God for one another. However, two men or two women were not designed by God to become one flesh with one another. The physical joining of two men or two women is not a natural act.”

God is very sexist and do you want to know why? Well let’s start with the story of Adam and Eve and how they fucked up and sinned; even though they weren’t created without a sense of right and wrong. God banished them from the Garden of Eden and punished both of them with mortality and he made child birth for Eve painful. Continue reading the bible and you’ll learn that women aren’t to be trusted because apparently they are all backstabbers and are only objects used to pop out babies. They have no voice and must marry their rapist if they get married; also they can be stoned to death if they aren’t a virgin.

Please tell me more about how two men and two women can’t have a meaningful relationship and they weren’t designed by god; yes also tell me how the world is less than 10,000 years old and god spoke the universe into existence. I find this to be so much more factual than two people who love each other of the same-sex wanting to spend their lives together. How dare they want to be happy? That’s a sin!

Science has proven that being gay is not a choice and is perfectly natural. Being a bigot is a choice however, as well as being homophobic, ignorant and stupid.

“An unselfish commitment to God and to each other is the foundation of a godly home and the bedrock of a stable culture. The more we seek to redefine marriage, and chip away at God's original design for the home, the more we put our families and our nation at risk.”

“This debate about same-sex marriage is the latest outgrowth of a culture that for decades has been drifting from biblical standards of truth and morality. The sexual revolution, for example, sought to bring legitimacy to sex outside of marriage. The women's liberation movement worked to revolutionize the roles of men and women in marriage and in our society. Throw in a rising emphasis on materialism and personal happiness, and you end up with a dramatically new way of looking at marriage. In her book, The Divorce Culture, Barbara Dafoe Whitehead writes:”

“... Americans began to change their ideas about the individual's obligations to family and society. Broadly described, this change was away from an ethic of obligation to others and toward an obligation to self... This ethical shift had a profound impact on ideas about the nature and purpose of the family... People began to judge the strength and "health" of family bonds according to their capacity to promote individual fulfillment and personal growth.”

“When millions of Americans view marriage from the mindset of "What's in it for me?" concepts like responsibility, self-sacrifice, and lifelong commitment become secondary. Is it any wonder that our divorce rate is so high? Or that the number of children born outside of marriage continues to rise? Or that an increasing number of couples are opting to live together instead of marrying?”

“And now the continuing push to legalize same-sex marriage is seeking to redefine marriage even further. From the moment God created marriage, it was designed with a man and woman in mind. God designed two sexes male and female—He did not create four sexes. Same-sex marriage cannot fulfill God's purposes for marriage.”

I’m personally glad we’ve chipped away from the so called ‘godly home’ because if you look at the way homes were in the bible they were pretty terrible. People were forced to marry people they didn’t love because that’s what god wanted? Also if you look at the way men treated women and how women are depicted in the bible it’s just awful. Please tell me how you want to revert back to the dark ages? Gay marriage was deemed unconstitutional to ban because it infringes on the rights of the LGBT community. We have a separation of church and state for a reason! Please open your mind and look at this not from a biblical stand point but from an actual person’s stand point. How would you feel if I came to your wedding and said you couldn’t get married because it offends me? You would what still get married am I correct? Now what gives you the authority to tell someone else they can’t get married your bible? That’s not a credible source!

The same arguments used against interracial marriage were used and again that was deemed unconstitutional to ban. Same happened with gay marriage; we redefined it because we created marriage not god! I’m so happy we as a society have moved forward so radically and seeing gay marriage allowed in all fifty states proves that we are shifting away from religious views and the government isn’t promoting an ideology. You keep throwing god in every argument as if that’s going to make it any more valid. It’s one thing to oppose but it’s another to oppose and not have a real reason because quite frankly I can say your god is an asshole because he rather force people to live the way he wants even though he created free will; also god isn’t even good source of morale because he’s had people do unspeakable things in the bible especially in the old testament. You’re opposed to two people loving each other? I’m opposed to you spewing hatred and being discriminatory towards those who have no effect on your life.

Pathological hate debunks anti-gay marriage arguments

Once again debunking terrible arguments used against gay marriage. Yes they are all terrible!

'Homosexuality injures the fabric of society, especially children.'
Allowing two consenting adults the right to get married is going to injure society how? Telling someone who they can and can't love is harmful to society because it ruins morale. Especially if that love isn't harming other people. What two adults do in the privacy of their bedroom is none of anyone's business but their own. Stop using your religion to shame people just because of your bible.

'Homosexuality is anti-procreation.'
What about the couples who can't have children, or the couples who don't want children? What you basically are saying here is the only reason for two people to get married is to have children. The bible says that man is robot and woman is baby factory and marriage is not to be expressed for the love between two individuals. It's sad that we have to use our religion to discriminate against other people because they don't follow your religious dogma. It's one thing that you have your ideals of marriage and no one is trying to take that away from you, but when you are trying to take the rights away from other people please do expect to be heavily criticized because what you are saying is wrong! Marriage should be between two people who love each other whether it is two men or two women. We should not be shaming people with our religion and saying you can't get married because its for children and not out of love.

'Homosexuality does not offer the stability of a traditional family.'
Do you have any proof of this? I've seen many same-sex couples with children and the children are happy and grow up like every other child. Just because it takes man and a woman can create a child doesn't mean they have what it takes to raise that child. Science even proves that a child can be raised by a single parent or even by a same-sex couple and grow up just like every other child. Denying a child the chance to have a loving and supportive family because it doesn't follow within your guidelines of what a family should be is just plain cruel.

'Homosexuals have a higher incidence of infidelity.'
And heterosexual couples are just the poster children of what a real marriage should be right? Wrong! They are heterosexual couples who are in open marriages there are heterosexual couples that cheat as well. Get off your high horse and use some common sense! You put heterosexuality on a silver platter like it goes with no flaws when in reality there many flaws, especially those who use their bible to try and make themselves look better than they are.

'Homosexuals have a shortened lifespan.'
Do you have any proof of to back such a radical claim? No I don't think you do and you can't use AIDS/HIV because it isn't something only gay people get. Heterosexual couples can spread it too you know, this is why they say always wear protection. Your bible is the reason why so many gay people have short lifespan because it tells you to stone people to death for being gay!! It's your bible that leads to people of the LGBT community to taking their own lives because some people rather be dead than to be who they are. It's sad that as a society if you are in the LBGT community you are frowned upon for something you can't control. You can control being an asshole and this statement further proves that!

'Homosexuals have a much higher incidence of domestic violence.'
Again where is the proof? Your bible surely doesn't say you shouldn't beat your wife. In fact there are tons of religions that say that it is okay to beat your wife if she doesn't submit to your sexually or if she doesn't do what you tell her to. There are heterosexual couples who exhibit domestic violence and often display it in front of their children and it has a negative impact on them because they see this and think that it is perfectly okay to do when they are older and in a relationship with someone. Domestic violence is not okay in anyway shape or form, but to blame this on same-sex couples and say they are most likely to exhibit this is just down right cruel. You really do have your information completely obscured and just want to make your religion and bible look so much more better than it really is.

'Homosexuals have a much higher rate of molestation than heterosexuals.'
This statement really does make me angry because it is completely and utterly untrue. Just because someone is gay doesn't mean that they want to molest children! I've seen so many heterosexuals exhibit molestation and even in the bible men were allowed to take young virgin girls as their wives and they had to submit to them sexually. Please do tell me how only gay people molest children and heterosexuals don't do any of the such. Yes you really are delusional aren't you?

'Homosexuality is not condoned in the bible.'
You can't eat shellfish. You can't mix fabrics. You can't trim your beard. You must honor Sabbath Day. You can't commit adultery. You can't go to a fortune teller. You can't eat pork. Shall I say more? We all know that you can't get your morale from the bible it isn't a good source of that. Otherwise we'd stoning people to death and reverting back to the dark ages. Jesus never preached against gay marriage!

'Homosexuals want to redefine marriage, changing the uniqueness of heterosexual marriage.'
If you believe marriage should be between one man and one woman that's fine! No one is trying to take your opinion away from you, however when your opinion infringes on the rights of other people then it becomes a problem. Why do you care so much that two men or two women are getting married? You don't have to get married to someone of the same-sex unless you are hoarding feelings for someone of the same-sex.

'Homosexual marriages will lead to other unnatural unions.'

Object sexuality does exist and there are tons of people married to landmarks, inanimate objects and including themselves. Polygamy does exist as well. Please don't tell me that your marriage is will be ruined when there are couples who get divorced right after getting married and having the whole marriage annulled like it never happened. It's one thing to want to protect your ideals on marriage and it's another to infringe on the rights of others who have no direct correlation to your life. Gay people deserve the right to be married like everyone else. Marriage is a human right. Bestiality will never be accepted because it is not two consenting adults and to say that this is your way of justifying your hate of others who aren't harming people really shows your ignorance on the subject.

Devon test drives a BMW X5

It's no exaggeration to say that the BMW X5 was a bit of a revolution when it was first launched. Many have questioned and even tried to duplicate it. The BMW X5 the logic defying 4x4 that is hard to ignore even with its heavy price tag.

Top of the range xDrive50i comes with a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged eight-cylinder pumping out a hearty 445hp. It's insanely fast and is the perfect alternate for those who want an X5M but can't justify the higher price tag. Our pick however goes to the xDrive35d which comes with a silky smooth 3-liter turbo-diesel pumping out 255hp. The price tag isn't too much more than the xDrive35i trim and is perfect for those who do tons of highway driving.

On the road the X5 is actually very entertaining to drive. You'll forget that you're in a heavy 4x4 vehicle. Those who want an edgier driving experience may want to consider a lighter more agile M car or the M performance version of the X5. The ride comfort can get a little firm on some surfaces but it's far from uncomfortable or a deal breaker; too bad you'll have to pay the premium for the adaptive M suspension system to get the X5 to drive and handle the way it should. Wind and road noise are well suppressed and all engines sound smooth and refined at all speeds. The engine stop start system isn't all that refined and is rather disappointing because you'd expect a X5 with such a hefty price tag to have a smoother system.

Driver's will find their ideal driving position quite easily behind the wheel of the X5. You'll be very happy that all the controls and dials are within easy reach of the driver's hand. The new iDrive system is much easier to navigate through, however we aren't huge fans of the large infotainment screen that pops out the dash. It doesn't raise and lower into the dash like Audi's but it still is classy in its own right. Passengers in the second row won't even complain about space because it is in the bucket loads. Headroom is good and legroom is good, however if you option for the third row seat you'll only want to have kids back there. They won't have much fun either because it really is tight for space and the boot space will suffer with the third row seat in place. Fold that seat down and the space opens up dramatically. Fold the second row seat down and you've got yourself a cargo van.

You get what you pay for really does define BMW well. Xenon headlamps with LED day time running lamps come standard on all trims as well as, heated front seats, auto-dimming rear-view mirror and Bluetooth audio streaming. However, keyless, leather upholstery and rear view camera aren't even standard. We can think of quite a few rivals that offer these features standard and are similarly priced. Your investments will be well secured with the X5 however because it does enjoy high resale value even if the purchase price is step to downright insanely high.

Build quality is good thanks to many soft touch materials that feel sturdy and long lasting but BMW reliability becomes questionable after warranty expires. If you are planning to keep your X5 after standard warranty we strongly suggest opting for the extended warranty because the previous generation X5 was woeful in reliability and the newer generation we still hold that same concern. Safety is still on the top priority list of BMW and you get electronic stability program, brake assist, adaptive brake lamps and emergency brake assist. Side curtain airbags for both rows are standard and you can option for automatic high beam headlights to keep from dazzling oncoming traffic when high beams are activated.

The X5 really does defy logic. It handles well and can do some off-road trails as well. It can seat seven somewhat and is a classy well desirable option in the luxury 4x4 segment. However, the X5 doesn't go without its flaws. The engine stop start system isn't all that refined. Some options make the X5 more expensive than it already is, and the Volvo XC90 can carry seven people and is much classier inside out. It's hard ignoring the rivals for the X5 when some are cheaper and offer more kit that BMW puts as an option but for those seeking that BMW badge and won't settle for anything else, this is the car for you.

Likes: Logic defying on-road dynamics. Diesel engine option is quite good. It's classy image with excellent resale value.

Dislikes: Options and packages will sky rocket the price. Running costs won't be cheap either. No standard rear view camera and at this price point that's disappointing. We loathe the stop start system.

Xdrive35d is our pick of the range; that diesel engine is silky smooth and refined. If you do tons of highway driving this is the best way to go. Everyone else may want to consider the xDrive35i trim because it is slightly cheaper but most importantly it may find more appeal for those who won't be able to find a diesel refilling station in their area.

Devon tries to see if the Nissan Versa Note is a note worth playing

Don’t like the classy and well regarded Honda Fit. The Nissan Versa Note will tick all the right buttons; but does it hit all the right notes?

The sole engine on hand is a 1.6 which is pretty much all you’ll ever really need with the Versa. It does offer decent flexibility around town and you may find yourself thrashing the engine on the highway to keep up with faster paced traffic.  Running costs are actually quite good which does help justify the small amount of power the engine produces.

Drive it the way it was intended to be driven and you’ll find yourself in a very comfortable small car. Push it into a corner or bend and you’ll be quickly reminded that this is an economy car. Handling isn’t bad but there is way too much body roll and this is all due to the suspension being set more towards comfort than agility. Plus the steering feedback is just okay. You may want to take a look at the Ford Fiesta if you want a fun to drive small car. Refinement is good but it isn’t as great as the Ford Fiesta and Honda Fit.

The driver’s seat does offer plenty of adjustments but the steering wheel only adjusts for height. There is plenty of space for four passengers and the interior feels pretty airy for such a small car. The boot space is decent too but with the seats folded down it’s even more spacious.

The saying goes you get what you pay for and the Versa Note is no exception. Standard S trim comes with air-con, cd-player and Bluetooth for your mobile phone. Sadly this is also the only trim that offers a five-speed manual gearbox. S-Plus trim adds CVT transmission, active grille shutters and dual power outside mirrors. You’ll have to step up to SV trim to get power windows and keyless entry as well as cruise control and USB connection for you iPod. SR trim adds alloy wheels, body-kit and unique interior trim. SL trim adds aluminum alloy wheels, keyless start and class-executive around view monitor.

The saving grace for the Versa Note is that it is cheap to buy and cheap to run. It may not hold its value as well as the Honda Fit, but for those that shop with their wallets won’t mind the somewhat average depreciation of the Versa Note and discounts will not be hard to come by. The interior isn’t anything to brag about but the materials feel very sturdy and long lasting. Plus Nissan consistently scores well in reliability.

All Versa Notes come with six-airbags, traction control and electronic stability program as well as anti-lock brakes and tire pressure monitoring system. Sadly not all versions get an immobilizer system to guard against theft.

The Nissan Versa Note is a great car for those who are on a budget and need a reliable and sensible car. It may not be as flexible as the Ford Fiesta or Honda Fit but it does the job well. Too bad you’ll have to pay for the options you’ll see standard on its rivals and it really doesn’t seem that much of a value either when you look at its standard kit. But for the price and the money you’ll save the Versa Note is a decent choice but not the best.

Devon’s Pick: SV trim adds comfort features such as power windows, keyless entry and cruise control. Buyers who want a manual gearbox are sadly stuck picking the very basically equipped S trim. But at least it offers Bluetooth which is rare in this price segment.

Likes: Overall it’s a decent car with low asking price and low running costs. The interior and boot space are both generous. A commuter car or workhorse this it really does tick the right buttons.

Dislikes: Keyless entry and power windows aren’t standard on all trims and not all trims get a manual gearbox option. SR trim has the looks but lacks the oomph; it doesn’t hit the right notes in refinement and SL trim is pricey for what it is.

Dumbest things said about Same-Sex Marriage

‘I think that gay marriage should be between a man and a woman.’
There are many people who feel the same way and that’s fine. You are entitled to your opinion but sometimes your opinion is best kept to yourself. Two men or two women whom love each other shouldn’t have to live their life the way you want them. Love cannot be dictated. Your marriage ideals should be kept to yourself and not forced onto others.

‘Marriage equality is a threat to the nation’s survival long run.’
What you are saying is; allowing gay marriage means that everyone will turn gay and no one will be having children? Because we all know if you’re looking at the bible for morale you want to revert to the dark ages when man is robot and woman is baby factory. Marriage is a basic human right and I can’t believe that even after the ruling to allow same-sex marriage in all fifty states people somehow think they have to marry someone of the same sex. What are you secretly gay? You can’t convert someone’s sexuality unless you’ve been holding feelings towards the same sex inside.

‘Same-sex marriage is like counterfeit money.’
Christian ignorance at its finest! How can you tell someone that what they have between them and their partner isn’t real because it doesn’t fit your biblical standards? Marriage is marriage whether it is between two men or two women. No should dictate who you love, if that love isn’t harming other people.

‘Hurricane Sandy was a divine justice triggered by the recognition of same-sex marriage in New York.’
I’m at a loss for words here. Do you know how many people died in this hurricane? Do you know how many people’s livelihood that was ruined because of this hurricane? Blaming same-sex marriage for the cause of natural disasters is such an awful thing to say; but then again if you get your morals from the bible I’m not surprised by your views at all. It’s okay to punish all people even those who don’t agree with same sex marriage. Let the blood be shed of innocent people because two people of the same gender want to get married. When gay marriage was legalized in Canada nothing happened there people still lived their lives like normal.

"If gays are granted rights, next we'll have to give rights to prostitutes and to people who sleep with St. Bernard’s and to nail biters."
Apparently nail biters can’t get married? Also I if I face palm myself any harder I’m going to knock myself unconscious. Seriously! You are protecting a book that says rape is okay as long as you marry the victim. Yes because every women or man wants to marry the person who raped them. Don’t even think about divorce you’re stuck together for life. Prostitution existed in the bible too and well quite frankly the way it was tolerated was just awful. Bestiality is just illegal and will never be accepted as a norm. Your argument here is flawed.

‘I think it’s a conundrum. If we have no laws on this, people take it one extension further, does it have to be humans, you know?’
Object sexuality does exist you know! There are people married to cars, landmarks and even a video game characters. Gay marriage didn’t cause any of this to happen, in fact these people were granted marriage licenses and yet two adults (humans) of the same sex that wanted to share their lives together were denied that for so long. Clearly you need a reality check because you are delusional.

‘Same-sex marriage will lead to fathers marrying sons.’
Have you even read your bible? There is so much incest in the bible that it’s not even funny it’s fucking scary! Allowing two people the right to get married of the same sex will not lead to dads marrying their sons. Pedophilia also exists in the bible too. The kidnapping of young virgins forced to submit to their kidnapper sexually and become their wife; all of these things existed and gay marriage wasn’t allowed. It’s sad how we still have to have the same arguments over and over again relating to the topic of gay marriage.

‘Europe, which gave us the idea of same-sex marriage, is a dying society, with birthrates 50 percent below replacement.’
Radical claims require radical proof. There is more evidence that suggest same-sex marriage going back to Ancient Egypt not Europe. Secondly there is no population crisis in Europe.

Ancient Rome there were same-sex couples and many people didn’t look down upon this practice. The holiday we know as Christmas was a pagan holiday in Rome in which men would have sex with each other. The down fall of the Roman Empire, well part of the reason, was the spread of Christianity and how people were stoned to death because it dictates your life and tells you who you can and can’t love.

‘Christians must engage in spiritual warfare to combat same-sex marriage.’
Why? I thought being a Christian meant that you showed love and tolerance of other people; and what you are showing is none of the above. Especially if you are telling someone what they have between them and their partners aren’t real and that they should go to hell because your bible says its wrong. This is why we have separation of church and state. Keep your religion to yourself and stop trying to convert people who don’t want to be converted. Spiritual warfare, what are we living in the dark ages? This is why we have so many problems in the world now. Everyone thinks their religion is right and no one wants to accept the possibility that they all maybe wrong.

‘My analysis is that gays are about 5 percent of the attack on marriage in this country, and the feminist are about 95 percent.”
Your analysis is wrong and completely stupid. Do you want to know why? Feminist have been fighting to have equal rights among women and the LGBT community have been fighting to have equal rights of the LBGT community and both have nothing to do with each other. There are people whom are not gay/lesbian helping the fight and there are men helping feminist as well. Your sight is very one sighted and pretty narrow-minded. Please open your horizons and stop looking to bible for your answers.

Devon is impressed with the Volvo XC90

The previous generation XC90 was our favorite luxury 4x4. It wasn’t as sharp to drive as a BMW X5 and the interior wasn’t classy like an Audi Q7 but it had a charm that was hard to ignore. Now the newer XC90 really does have a lot to live up to; not only in terms of helping Volvo stay afloat but also stamping it’s mark in the ever crowded ever serious luxury 4x4 segment. Tough gig!

Volvo does start off on the right notes with the new XC90 because both the exterior and interior looks are absolutely stunning; both help the XC90 leap light years ahead of the previous generation. Dare we say the XC90 is the most handsome 4x4 in this segment? But how does this all translate onto the road?
The sole engine choice for now is a 2-liter turbocharged and supercharged four-cylinder pumping out a hearty 315hp with standard all-wheel-drive. You might think that a tiny four-cylinder isn’t up to the job in the XC90 but you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how flexible the engine really is. We haven’t tested the XC90 fully laden but we are pretty sure that it won’t struggle thanks to a maximum tow rating of 5,000lbs.
Our tester car came equipped with air suspension and 20-inch alloys and the ride quality is actually good. Large bumps won’t even send shutters into the cabin. Handling is okay it won’t defy logic like a BMW X5 or Porsche Cayenne but it holds its own well. Steering is smooth and offers excellent feedback. Refinement is good in the XC90, when at relaxed speeds you can barely hear a peep out of the engine and road noise is virtually unheard of. There is a bit of wind noise around the side mirrors but it’s far from intrusive or annoying.
Volvo has the best seats in the auto industry hands down. These seats provide enough comfort for drivers of all sizes. The infotainment system is actually quite easy to use and of course you get a full nine-inch display which adds a bit of class to the overall look and feel. All the controls are within easy reach and your view forwards and backwards is good. Boot space is okay with the third row seat in place. Fold the third row seat down and you’ve got even more space, fold down both rows and you have so much space that you would need a transit van if you find the space lacking.
The third row seat is actually quite roomy for adults, even though most will only tolerate it for short journeys. The second row space is generous too, in fact this is one of the few seven-seat 4x4s we’ve ever driven where the balance between utility and people carrier is so good that we have to give it a standing ovation.
T6-AWD gets navigation system, rain sensing windshield wipers and lane departure warning. T6 R-design adds integrated body-kit with 20-inch alloys and full-LED headlights. T6 AWD Inscription adds Nappa leather seating, ventilated seating surfaces and keyless entry with hands-free tailgate opening system. The amount of kit you get standard for the money is actually much more generous then what you would typically get standard on a BMW X5 and Mercedes ML.
We challenge you to find a BMW X5 or Porsche Cayenne with the same equipment for similar money and what you’ll find is all the reasons why the XC90 is the better buy. It may not have the resale value of both brands yet but this XC90 looks promising and we do predict that the value will hold very well. Running costs are similar to that of the BMW and Porsche and even though Volvo doesn’t offer a diesel engine it will eventually offer a plug-in hybrid option which is predicted to be one of the greenest seven-seat 4x4s on sale until the Tesla Model-X arrives of course.
Interior quality is superb and many of the plastics feel classy and upmarket; a far departure from the previous generation. Volvo has scored above-average in reliability and we do see this being a new trend for years to come. If Volvo had a middle name it would be safety and everything that you could ever possibly want in terms of safety kit Volvo has it. The most notable of these systems is the city braking which works at speeds up to 30mph, by slowing you down and bring you to a complete stop if the driver so happens to take his or her eyes off the road.
When you think of luxury 4x4s most will venture to the BMW X5 and Porsche Cayenne because well both are good in their own right. However, the XC90 is better than both in its own way. It may not be as sharp to drive or defy logic, but it is a comfortable cruiser with an outstanding interior and can really fit seven people aboard. Plus it is one of the most handsome looking 4x4s we have ever seen in a while. Volvo really did tick all the right buttons and play all the right notes with the new XC90. Hopefully the new looks and well equipped trim-levels will lure buyers in because passing one up without giving it a real gander is a real shame because this 4x4 is a gem.

Devon’s pick: T6 AWD R-design is where our money would go. It feels like you get a lot of car for your money and still somehow you undercut the X5 and you’re still way below what you would have to pay if you picked the Cayenne. It’s classy and stylish plus we just love those LED headlights.

Like: The XC90 is the most handsome 4x4 in the segment and that style carries inside too. Infotainment system is easy to use and those seats are the best. It can really fit seven people aboard and somehow manages to undercut the heavy hitters in kit and price.

Dislikes: The auto gearbox is a little sluggish to react.

Devon test drives a compact Mercedes Crossover (GLA)

The Mercedes GLA may be a good deal on paper but can it shake the image that the CLA seems to be tarnished by?

Standard GLA250’s turbocharged four-cylinder is good for 208hp while the top of the GLA45 AMG’s 355hp is wicked fast. Pick of the range is simple and the most logical choice, even though we do enjoy how fast the AMG form is, we’d have to say the GLA250 is the only way to go. It’s the more affordable of the two and the running costs are actually quite good. It’s hard to fault it too because there’s decent turn of pace around town and on the highway, plus you can option it with all-wheel-drive if needed.

On the road the GLA does feel more composed than you’d think. There’s plenty of grip with the 4-matic all-wheel-drive system and steering feedback is pleasantly good. The AMG form has a lowered suspension and its setup is more aimed towards agility. However, you’ll be surprised that there is a fair balance between body control and ride comfort; at least the GLA lives up to the Mercedes badge with very minimal wind and road noise to complain of.

There is plenty of space for the front passengers and rear passengers. Headroom and legroom are both decent. The boot space is decent too but nothing to brag about. The infotainment system is too fiddly to operate while on the move, and there are far too many menus to look through for simple functions. Plus we aren’t huge fans of the screen that sort of just pops out the dash instead of raising and lowering into the dash like in the Audi Q3.

Bluetooth audio streaming, 14-way power driver’s seat with memory, power lift gate and eco start/stop system all come as standard. You’ll have to pay extra for navigation system, bi-xenon headlamps and 4-matic all-wheel-drive. Both options that are great but all depends if you really have to have them. Our tester car came pretty decked out and also came with a pretty decked out price tag as well.

The GLA price tag is enticing but you’ll have to walk away with a very sparsely equipped GLA. Even if it does offer decent kit at a decent price, you’ll have to overlook the Q3 which does have a bit more kit standard and of course the more dynamically appealing X1. Getting the GLA to a desired level of kit means you’ll be paying more for it and it becomes even harder to justify especially when there are so many indirect rivals that are larger roomier and has more standard kit too.

Mercedes reliability record is spotty even though Mercedes does enjoy high customer satisfaction scores. The interior materials do feel up to Mercedes par, but the overall reliability of the electronics should be something to look at long term wise. But at least Mercedes doesn’t short change on the safety with collision prevention assist plus, driver attention assist, and adaptive braking technology. Seven airbags are standard; and an alarm system with engine immobilizer is fitted to keep theft at bay.

The GLA is one of those crossovers you’ll either love or loathe. We like the low starting price and the overall badge appeal that comes along with owning a Mercedes, however you will feel short changed with the GLA just like the CLA. Its indirect options are much better and that raises the question is it really worth it? If you have to have a Mercedes yes; otherwise there are better indirect rivals that cost similar money and offer way more.

Likes: AMG form is wicked fast. It’s a practical hatchback on stilts with a low starting price.  Low running cost.

Dislikes: Low price goes bye-bye when options are added. Infotainment system is fiddly to operate and there are too many distracting menus.

Devon’s choice: GLA 250 4-matic all-wheel-drive. If your heart is set on having a GLA this form is the best way to go. You’ll want to keep the options list light with just one or two options added on. Both are a bit pricey but are worth adding; 4-matic all-wheel-drive for the added traction in sticky situations and Bi-xenon headlamps for the added luxury car appeal.
