Ben Carson is homophobic and ignorant: here are seven reasons why.

Marriage equality will lead to polygamy.

"Effectively what it does is it takes away from the tradition of family we've known for thousands of years, but also it negates an important part of the word of God. And if you can do that with one part of the word of God, you can do it with the rest of it too. Toss the whole thing in the garbage."

How will marriage equality lead to polygamy? Your bible supports polygamy and says that it is okay for men to have multiply wives. I really don’t see how you can correlate two adults in a loving relationship wanting to take things to the next level with someone wanting to have multiple partners and marry multiple people. Secondly; it seems that your arguments are from a religious point of view and we all know that you can’t push your religion down other people throats; we have the First Amendment for a reason!

LGBT and single parents are not of "equal value" to straight married parents.

"We’ve got to stop paying attention to the P.C. police who say every lifestyle is exactly of the same value. No, it’s not of the same value. It is very clear that intact, traditional families with traditional, intact values do much better in terms of raising children. So let’s stop pretending that everything is of equal value."

"We need to face the fact that when young girls have babies out of wedlock, most of the time their education ends with that first baby. And those babies are four times as likely to grow up in poverty, end up in the penal system or the welfare system. You know, I’m not making this stuff up. That’s well-documented. That’s a problem."

Straight married couples are not the only people that can raise a child, and the fact that you are shaming single parents and LGBT parents is really sad. Clearly you have no idea what you are talking about and this further validates it. Same-sex couples are fully capable of raising a child just like any ‘straight’ couple. A single parent can fully raise their child without ever being married; maybe the child was raised by a family member that isn’t its actual biological parents? It takes a man and a woman to create a child but it surely doesn't mean that only a man and a woman can raise one.

This is why it is important to teach our youth about safe sex; just because your religion preaches abstinent doesn’t mean that everyone should be abstinent. Secondly there are plenty of single parents who have children that are successful and are not in the penal system. It is unfair to generalize every single parent as uneducated, poor and their children will become criminals. You clearly are a jerk!

Sexual orientation is a choice because people have gay sex in prison.

“In a recent interview on CNN, I realized that my choice of language does not reflect fully my heart on gay issues.

I do not pretend to know how every individual came to their sexual orientation. I regret that my words to express that concept were hurtful and divisive. For that I apologize unreservedly to all that were offended.

I'm a doctor trained in multiple fields of medicine, who was blessed to work at perhaps the finest institution of medical knowledge in the world. Some of our brightest minds have looked at this debate, and up until this point there have been no definitive studies that people are born into a specific sexuality. We do know, however, that we are always born male and female. And I know that we are all made in God's image, which means we are all deserving of respect and dignity.

I support human rights and Constitutional protections for gay people, and I have done so for many years. I support civil unions for gay couples, and I have done so for many years. I support the right of individual states to sanction gay marriage, and I support the right of individual states to deny gay marriage in their respective jurisdictions.

I also think that marriage is a religious institution. Religious marriage is an oath before God and congregation. Religious marriage must only be governed by the church. Judges and government must not be allowed to restrict religious beliefs.

I am not a politician and I answered a question without really thinking about it thoroughly. No excuses. I deeply regret my statement and I promise you, on this journey, I may err again, but unlike politicians when I make an error I will take full responsibility and never hide or parse words. As a human being my obligation is to learn from my mistakes and to treat all people with respect and dignity.”

Citation please!

It has been proven by science that your sexual orientation isn’t chosen, you are born with your sexuality. Some may know quicker than others but it is in no way shape or form a choice. Please explain to me how you knew you were attracted to women and you aren’t just attracted to women because god told you whom you should date; if you really do support human rights then you would not be trying to take the rights away from the LGBT community and yes the government and judges should restrict religious beliefs because NOT RESTRICTING IT GOES AGAINST THE FIRST AMENDMENT!!! Religion shouldn’t influence laws at all; otherwise we’d be stoning people to death.

A sitting president can simply ignore the U.S. Constitution — especially on marriage equality.

A sitting president cannot simply ignore the constitution when it comes to marriage equality. The arguments that have been used against gay marriage have all come from religious point of view and it is unconstitutional to use your religion to oppress people, especially when the government itself cannot support any ideology of any sort. It’s sort of like separation of church and state. The church should have no influence on politics or else murder of innocent people would be deemed perfectly legal.

States should pass so-called right-to-discriminate legislation that would allow businesses to refuse service to LGBT people.

Here is what you are saying:
“I can’t serve you because you are gay and it goes against my religious views.”
“I can’t serve you because you’re black and it goes against my religious views.”
“I can’t serve you because you’re Jewish and it goes against my religious views.”
“I can’t serve you because you’re a woman and serving women goes against my religious views.”
“I can’t serve you because you eat shellfish and that goes against my religious views.”
“I can’t serve you because you drink alcohol and that goes against my religious views.”
“I can’t serve you because you are wearing mixed fabrics and that goes against my religious views.”

The list goes on and on. We have separation of church and state for a reason people! A business owner can refuse service to someone whom has shoplifted from their store or someone who is physically harmful towards them and anyone in the store; however, a store owner cannot refuse service because of your sexual orientation and no state should support this type of discrimination. It becomes a domino effect that actually makes things much worse than good.

Elected officials have a religious right to refuse to serve LGBT people.

NO THEY DON’T!!!!

Elected officials have the right to follow the law the way it was written. Your religious views should stay home with you and should not be forced onto other people. The First Amendment makes this very clear! I really don’t understand why some religious people forget that the government cannot support their ideology and it is unconstitutional to say so; even if the government came forward and said there is no god. I will not support them saying this because they have no business saying such statements.

It baffles me that we are still having this same argument about marriage equality and the end of discriminating against LGBT community.

Legal marriage equality is just as sinful as murder, bestiality, and pedophilia

Bestiality is illegal because both aren’t consenting adults and an animal cannot give consent. Pedophilia and murder both exist in your bible and are promoted. The kidnapping of young virgins, God impregnating the young Virgin Mary who was fourteen when she gave birth to Jesus and the countless murdering of innocent people.

It’s one thing to have your religious views and it is perfectly fine to have them. You are free to practice your religion as freely and as openly as you want, but when you begin to use your religion as a weapon to hurt and potentially harm others who don’t want to follow your ideology that’s when it becomes a problem and the government’s job is to stop that from occurring. You can practice your religion but you can’t oppress others with your religion and the government cannot promote any ideology of any sort. Some of you may still be upset with the Supreme Court’s decision to legalize gay marriage but it was unconstitutional to ban it in the first place; all arguments were from the bible and many of the arguments have been debunked by science as well as living in a society that’s more open-minded instead of being reverted to the stone age where everything was a ‘sin’ and punishable by death. We regressed as a society and moved forward, it’s scary for you religious assholes because your ideology is no longer being pampered and people are getting the equality they deserved a long time ago…
