Short car reviews
BMW X5 M
Pros: Lovely sounding eight-cylinder turbo. You'll get plenty of power on tap. It's very easy to manage as a daily commuter car with plenty of space for five. Interior is very posh.
Cons: Typical BMW stingy with standard-kit. You'll need deep pockets to buy one, maintain and own. You'll have to pay for aftermarket all-season tires or winter tires if you stay in snowbelt areas.
Overall: Some 4x4s make little sense. The X5 M is one of those 4x4s. However, that's what makes it charming and a hoot to drive.
Tesla Model X Plaid
Likes: It accelerates like a rocket ship. It's a practical family SUV with cool falcon-wing doors. Zero emissions with 0-60mph in under 3 seconds. Minimalistic interior design.
Dislikes: It's not as much fun as a BMW X5 M or Porsche Cayenne. It's wicked expensive with iffy build quality.
Overall: It's an SUV for those who want to showboat with acceleration and falcon-wing doors.
Rolls-Royce Cullinan
Likes: Luxury that's been taken to the next level for SUVs. Powertrain is completely effortless. Driving experience is effortless. Everything is effortless.
Dislikes: Driving it anywhere will induce anxiety. It's price tag isn't for the faint of wallet. Certain angles make the Cullinan look bulky and weird.
Overall: It's the Rolls Royce of SUVs.
Mercedes AMG GLA 45
Likes: Strong performance from turbo engine. Optional sport package with rear-boot-spoiler looks really cool. Interior is a huge step up from the previous generation.
Dislikes: Ride comfort is downright disrespectful with larger alloy wheels. Options will send the price soaring. The dual clutch transmission has the tendency to be sloppy when driving around town.
Overall: It's an SUV trying to be a hot hach.
Mini Cooper SD
Likes: Diesel convertibles can be cool. Very fuel efficient with tons of torque where it matters most. Mini's iconic design just gets better with age.
Dislikes: Some diesel clatter can be heard with the top down. It comes with a hefty price tag. Standard kit is somewhat on the stingy level.
Overall: A rare breed. A diesel convertible. We aren't sure it works togehter, but we like it.
